Manufacturing Process

1. Request
Feel free to inquire about your custom requirements, specifications, and feasibility. Through consultations with the CRAFTER team, you can refine your ideas and decide on the production process.
2. Consulting
We provide a variety of wood and design options to discuss and determine the best choice with you. This is a crucial process that defines the guitar’s sound quality and appearance.
3. Contract
Typically, about 50% of the total amount is paid upfront as a deposit at the time of contract. The remaining balance is paid upon receipt of the instrument when the guitar is completed. The production period usually takes more than three months.
4. Design Confirmation
After finalizing the specifications and design, we obtain your approval. At this stage, all details are refined and confirmed, completing the preparation for production.
5. Production
Once approval is complete, expert craftsmen meticulously craft a custom guitar exclusively for you. We strive to ensure the highest quality, precision, and full incorporation of your requirements.
6. Delivery
Once the guitar is completed, there are two options for receiving it: in-person pickup or shipping. You will receive the guitar after completing the final payment.

Body Shape

기타의 외형과 윤곽선, 두께 등을 결정하는 바디쉐입은 기타의 톤, 볼륨, 연주감 등 가장 큰 차이를 만드는 옵션입니다.

크래프터 커스텀 홀에서는 바디쉐입은 물론 각 바디쉐입의 두께 등 옵션을 보다 구체적이고 세밀하게 설정하실 수 있습니다.

Orchestra

Alongside the dreadnought, this is one of the most traditional body shapes, offering a smaller size for comfortable playability. It is especially loved by singer-songwriters and band vocalists who perform while playing. Despite its compact size, it delivers a highly articulate sound, and depending on the wood composition, it can produce tones specialized for fingerstyle playing.

Grand Auditorium

CRAFTER's most representative and modern body style, this shape falls between the dreadnought and orchestra (T/OM) bodies in size, sound characteristics, and tonal balance. It is well-suited for both strumming and fingerstyle playing, with most models featuring a cutaway for easier access to higher frets and enhanced playability. This shape produces the broadest sound spectrum.

Dreadnought

The dreadnought is the most traditional body shape, featuring a thick and large build that delivers punchy, powerful bass and impressive volume. It also provides extended sustain, leaving a lasting resonance. With its commanding sound presence, this body shape is ideal for music where the guitar takes center stage.

Jumbo

As the name suggests, "Jumbo" features the largest body shape among our guitars. To craft a Jumbo guitar, specially selected oversized tonewoods are required. It delivers a powerful and punchy sound with a wide dynamic range, allowing for diverse sound expressions. With its commanding size and striking visual presence, it's highly recommended for those seeking guitar-driven band music or explosive strumming sounds.

Mino

The Mino body introduces a new concept for mini guitars. While maintaining a compact body size, it is designed with a thick body depth and bracing similar to standard guitar body shapes to ensure long sustain and ample volume. For enhanced playing comfort, it features a wooden armrest and binding.

Grand Mino

The Grand Mino body falls between the Mino and Orchestra (T/OM) body sizes. Its thick body depth and specialized bracing system deliver a punchy sound with deep mids, extended sustain, and rich volume. It also features a wooden armrest and binding for enhanced playing comfort.

Tonewood

At CRAFTER Custom Hall, you can personally inspect and select from a premium wood collection, carefully sourced from around the world, before placing your order.

Through CRAFTER’s specialized wood drying and management process, we maximize the natural characteristics of premium tonewood, ensuring excellence from the very first step of instrument making.

Engelmann Spruce

Engelmann Spruce, often considered ‘Crafter's signature Tonewood’, is the tonewood Crafter Team mainly crafts for the tops of our guitars. This wood is known for its clean, creamy look and the bright, vibrant highs it produces. Despite its dense grain, Engelmann Spruce has a softer hardness, allowing it to deliver a well-balanced tone across low, mid, and high frequencies with excellent responsiveness.

Alpine Spruce

Alpine Spruce, also known as European Spruce, is sourced from the Alpine mountain region of European territory. It features a bright and clean look, with dense grain and solid hardness, qualities that develop due to the cold and harsh environment of the Alps. This tonewood responds beautifully to both fingerstyle playing and powerful strumming, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of musical genres. This quality Spruce is crafted on high-end guitars such as our 3000, 4000, 5000, 7000 series & Crafter Custom Shop Guitars.

Torrefied Alpine Spruce VVS(Vintage Voicing System)

VVS stands for ‘Vintage Voicing System’—a technique in which spruce and other tonewoods are carefully roasted at a controlled mid-high temperature over time. This process removes residual moisture, strengthens the cellular structure of the wood, and brings out a more seasoned vintage tone with enhanced sustain, deeper lows, and improved overall volume.

When combined with Crafter’s signature bracing system, this specially roasted tonewood unlocks its full acoustic potential—resulting in a guitar that is not only structurally refined but also rich in character and tonal maturity.

Sitka Spruce

Sitka Spruce is the most commonly crafted tonewood for acoustic guitars due to its versatility. It is well-suited for a wide range of musical styles, from strumming to fingerstyle, and is known for its dynamic sound, responsiveness, and wide spectrum in the tone wise. Although it is widely used in the acoustic guitar industry, it is not as frequently found in Crafter Guitars Line-Up. However, you can experience Sitka Spruce Sound in our ES series.

Torrefied Sitka Spruce VVS(Vintage Voicing System)

Western Red Cedar

Western red cedar, with its deep reddish hue, produces a warm and expressive sound. Due to its low density, it responds sensitively to delicate touches, making it an excellent choice for emotional compositions and intricate fingerstyle playing. It is used in CRAFTER’s 17 and 18 series, while AAA-grade or higher cedar wood is reserved for custom guitars.

Indian Rosewood

Indian rosewood possesses the ideal density and hardness for use in the back and sides of acoustic guitars. It delivers clear highs, deep lows, and a punchy, articulate sound with rich overtones. This reddish-brown wood is widely used in both high-end and mid-range guitars due to its excellent workability and sound transmission. It also performs exceptionally well when used for fingerboards or bridges, maintaining its superior tonal quality even when shaped for cutaway designs.

African Mahogany

African Mahogany produces a sound that highlights the midrange frequencies. Rather than delivering a dramatic tone with emphasized highs and lows or dynamic responsiveness, it stands out for its clean and woody character. When used as a top wood, its warm and woody tone becomes even more pronounced. African Mahogany is also commonly used for acoustic guitar necks due to its high density and excellent hardness, providing structural stability and a comfortable playing feel.

Macassar Ebony

With its striking grain pattern, Macassar ebony is an extremely dense and hard wood, making it highly challenging to process. However, it rewards with crystal-clear highs, powerful lows, and a well-balanced midrange that projects with great volume. Its excellent responsiveness and natural damping characteristics make it ideal for powerful compositions and bold fingerstyle playing. At CRAFTER, it is available as an option in the 4000 series and custom guitars.

African Bubinga

Bubinga, all the way from Africa, also known as African Rosewood, is a premium tonewood distinguished by its higher density compared to Indian Rosewood. This outstanding density provides longer sustain and a clearer tone with greater volume. As a rare and premium-grade wood, Bubinga is available as an option in Crafter Custom Shop Guitars.

African Ovangkol

Ovangkol, all the way from Africa, is an exceptional tonewood known for its superb workability and tone, making it ideal for crafting musical instruments. It produces a versatile sound, often described as ‘RoseGany’—a blend of ‘Rosewood’ and ‘Mahogany’—with balanced lows, mids, and highs. You can find Ovangkol as an option in Crafter Custom Shop guitars.

Maple / Flamed Maple

Maple is a tonewood that accentuates high frequencies, delivering a sound with exceptional clarity and resolution. Many varieties, such as flame maple and quilted maple, feature striking grain patterns, making them popular choices for colored guitars with a finished aesthetic. These visually stunning guitars contribute to an eye-catching stage presence. You can experience flame (tiger) maple in CRAFTER’s Noble series.

Taiwan Acacia

Taiwan Acacia is commonly used as an alternative to Hawaiian Koa. Also referred to as Taiwan Koa, this wood is a distant relative of Hawaiian Koa, with both species thriving in similar tropical climates and sharing comparable tonal and aesthetic characteristics. It offers the sweet appearance and sound of Hawaiian Koa at a more affordable price. You can find it in CRAFTER’s 2500 series, Mino, and Grand Mino series.

Hawaiian Koa

Hawaiian Koa, sourced from Hawaii, features a strikingly beautiful grain pattern. Initially, it produces a sound that emphasizes mid and high frequencies, but through the natural "aging" process that occurs with playing, it gradually adapts to the player’s style, enhancing its mid and low frequencies for a richer tone. When used as a top wood, Hawaiian Koa requires even more time to undergo this aging process, allowing it to become more responsive to the player's touch and develop a fuller sound. You can find it as an option in CRAFTER’s high-end 9000 series and Custom Shop.

High-Gloss Finish

The high-gloss finish, meticulously applied with expert techniques, forms a thin layer on the wood, enhancing its natural shine while preserving its resonance. This results in a brighter and more articulate sound with greater clarity.

Semi-Satin Finish

CRAFTER’s matte finish, known as the "Semi-Satin Finish," is not a completely flat matte but rather a subtle semi-matte. While it lacks the high-gloss shine of a polished finish, it retains a gentle sheen, adding a touch of elegance and vintage character.

Open-Pore Finish

This finishing technique preserves the natural texture and pores of the wood, allowing its true character to shine through. It produces an open, woody sound, with a thin application that leaves the grain visibly and tactilely present. By minimizing artificial treatments, this finish highlights the raw beauty of the wood.

Glossy Top, Matte Back & Sides

The glossy finish on the guitar’s top enhances its visual appeal and contributes to a crisp, articulate sound. Meanwhile, the matte finish on the back and sides provides a warm, vintage tone, creating a unique tonal balance.
If you desire a combination of high-definition sound, an elegant appearance, and a smooth, natural feel where the instrument contacts your body, this option is highly recommended.

Preamp System

Acoustically produced sound is converted into an electronic signal and output through an amp-speaker system. CRAFTER offers not only its innovative proprietary preamp system but also a selection of world-best-selling preamp pickup systems.

DS-2 Pro⁺

Soundhole-Mounted Dual-Source Pickup

DS-2PRO⁺ is a preamp system independently developed by Crafter. It captures signals from Crafter’s proprietary Platform undersaddle pickup and a custom-tuned condenser microphone to deliver a more dimensional and rich sound. It is installed inside the body without requiring any external modifications to the guitar’s side, and features a stealth tuner also mounted internally, allowing for easy tuning without the need for any additional devices.

The LR Baggs ANTHEM preamp system is a world-renowned best-seller that needs no introduction. Combining the L.R.
